After starring in dozens of comedy films and a network TV series, actress Anna Faris, ’99, has made room for a new role. She ventured into the world of podcasting with a relationship advice show, “Anna Faris is Unqualified,” which invites listeners to gripe about their heartache on-air. The show has a 4.5-star rating on iTunes, with nearly 100 episodes that feature famous guests from comedy, film and music.
In a recent episode, Faris and musician Jack Johnson help a college student navigate the murky waters of trying to date your best friend. In another, Eva Longoria coaches a caller on the ethics of hooking up with your ex-boyfriend’s roommate.
The podcast has opened the door for another project: In her new memoir, “Unqualified,” Faris reflects on an awkward childhood, a career in comedy, and an eight-year Hollywood marriage with actor Chris Pratt (the two separated this year).
Faris, an English major at the UW, stopped by campus on Oct. 26 for a University Book Store event. We photographed her for a whirlwind five minutes at the University Temple United Methodist Church.
