Health supplement DHEA linked to aggression in birds

An over-the-counter health supplement can be linked linked to aggression in songbirds, suggesting health implications for people who may be using the DHEA hormone, according to a UW Bothell study.

Biologist Douglas Wacker and his students implanted DHEA into songbirds and noticed that the hormone stimulated aggression and ultimately altered the birds’ brains, changing their neural networks.
